The Washington Post reports that the US has decided to send Abrams tanks to Ukraine to match the German decision to send Leopard tanks. It was the right decision to support Germany, although it may anger Putin.
I have been disappointed by the criticism of America’s M-1 Abrams tanks. It sounds like they are too big and too complicated to fight an actual war, like the one in Ukraine. People often criticize the Pentagon for preparing to fight the last war, but these giant tanks appear to have been built to fight Russian tanks in a major war, which is what is happening in Ukraine. If they won’t work in Ukraine, where will they work? In Vietnam?
