Brazil’s electoral court has barred former president Jair Bolsonaro from office for eight years. Like Trump, Bolsonaro had claimed that Brazil’s voting machines were unreliable. This looks like it will be difficult for Bolsonaro to make a comeback, but the current president, Lula, was convicted and jailed for corruption during his previous term as president. Bolsonaro has two prominent followers who could run in his absence, Tarcisio de Freitas, the governor of Sao Paulo, and Romeu Zema, the governor of Minas Gerais.
